ARTICLE 2 – DOCTRINAL STATEMENT

(Statement of Faith)

1. THE SCRIPTURES

We believe that the Bible, consisting of sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, was divinely inspired (God-breathed); that is has God for its Author, salvation for its end and truth without any mixture of error for its matter; that it reveals the principles by which God will judge us; and therefore is and shall remain to the end of the world, the only rule of Christian faith and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds and opinions should be tried. We use the King James Version of the Bible because it is the closest to the original Hebrew & Greek texts and the divinely preserved Word of God in the English language.

Psalm 12:6 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:21; Hebrews 1:1,2; II Samuel 23:2; Acts 1:16, 3:21; John 10:35; Luke 16:29-31;Proverbs 30:5,6; John 17:17; Revelation 22:18,19; Romans 3:4, 2:12; John 12:47,48.

2. THE TRUE GOD

We believe the scriptures teach that there is one and only one living and true God, an infinite and intelligent Spirit, the Maker and Ruler of heaven and earth; inexpressibly glorious in holiness and worthy of all worship, honor and praise; that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons — the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, equal in all divine attributes and executing distinct but harmonious offices.

Genesis 1:1; Matthew 3:16,17; 28:19; John 4:24; Psalm 147:5; 83:18; Hebrews 3:4; Romans 1:20; Jeremiah 10:10; Exodus 15:11; I Peter 1:15,16; Revelation 4:6-8, 11; Mark 12:30; Ephesians 2:18.

3. JESUS CHRIST

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who receive Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood. We believe that He was begotten by the Holy Spirit, was born of the virgin Mary in a miraculous manner, as no man was ever born or can ever be born , and that He is both the Son of God and God the Son. We believe in the bodily resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, His bodily ascension into heaven and His bodily presence there for us as High Priest and Advocate.

4. THE STATE OF MAN

We believe the scriptures teach that man was created in the image of God in innocence under the law of his Creator, but by voluntary transgression he fell from that holy and happy state and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God; that all human beings are born with a sinful nature and are now sinners by birth and by choice, being by nature utterly void of that holiness required by the law of God, positively inclined to evil and therefore under just condemnation to eternal ruin, without defense or excuse.

Genesis 2:17; Romans 5:12-19; Genesis 3:6-24; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:9-18; Ephesians 2:3; Romans 1:18-32; Romans 2:1-21; Psalm 58:3; I Corinthians 2:14; Genesis 2:16,17; 3:6-24; Romans 5:12-19; Ephesians 2:3; Galatians 3:10, 22; Ezekiel 18:19,20.

5. THE WAY OF SALVATION

We believe the Scriptures teach that the Lord Jesus Christ, according to the will of the Father, assumed our nature, yet without sin; that by His death He became the propitiation (satisfied the wrath of the Father against us) for our sins; that having risen from the dead, He is now enthroned in heaven and is a victorious, compassionate and all-sufficient Savior; and that all who receive Him are justified on the grounds of faith alone, receiving forgiveness by His shed blood; that they are thereby children of God and are eternally saved, being kept by the power of God.

I Corinthians 15:1-4; II Corinthians 5:21; I Peter 2:24; Romans 5:9; Ephesians 2:5; Matthew 18:11; I John 4:10; Acts 15:11; John 3:16-18; John 1:1-14; Hebrews 4:14; 12:24; 7:25; Philippians 2:6,7; Hebrews 2:14; II Corinthians 5:21; Isaiah 53:4,5; Colossians 2:9; Hebrews 2:18; John 10:27-30.
